Quad Ramp for Truck Bed!
#11
I have a Z71 which is pretty high off the ground and purchased ramp ends from Home Depot and two 2x12x8 boards and built my own ramps with grip tape on them for wet condtions, I think Ive got about $45 bucks total in them and they have held up nicely over the past few years, I have a trailer but when I going alone its nice just to stick it in the truck and haul out.

do they make folding ones that fold lengthwise? i have a f150 4x4 offroad that sits really high. right now i am using the 2x12x8s with ramp ends but being an extended cab shortbox they stick out the end a little with the tailgate shut. i dont dare cut them any shorter or the incline would be dangerous. i used a friends folding aluminum once and it was a very steep incline.

HillHound; my Bullmastiff (Satchmo) weighs about 140 lbs (I'll know for sure today, he's going to the vet). He's far from mean, he's the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. My Boxer (Boz), on the other hand, is a BRAT!
I'm thought about using 2X12's but I'd really like to have a 1 piece ramp. I won't always have a street to unload the Raptor, so the boards wouldn't always be even. I like the folding ramp, if I can find one long enough. I'll check Walmart! I can stick some grip tape on the aluminum, that should give it a sticky surface!
Thanks for all the info!

I got mine from cabelas, folds up double but wont fit under my raptor (too wide) I just stick it along side the bike and use the tie downs to hold it. I drive a tundra which is pretty tall and got the lightest ramp out there (1000lbs) at around $119 works great but I only weigh 160

I like the 83" ramp from Cabelas but I don't know if it's long enough to keep the angle down. I put an 83" 2x4 on my bed and it seemed kinda steep. i really don't want the individual ramps but they seem to be the long ones. I'm gonna go down to the Yamaha dealer today and try to get a service manual so I'll see if they have ramps.
Thanks for the help everyone!

I have a 1 ton Dodge duelly with a flat bed. I couldn't find any ramps long enough either so I made some out of 1"dia x 7'-6" long pipe and some steel mesh used for floors. I took 2 pc's of pipe and welded 1 1/2" angle on one end, it can hook on the rub rails on the bed, then welded another short pipe between them on the other end. Then welded the mesh on top. The mesh doesn't let the tires spin even when wet. I load my wheelers sideways on the back but I can also load from either side. My sons Badger stills rubs the center when loading it but other than that I've had no problems.

Hey Mitch,
I finally got around to checking out the size of my ramp. With all that has happened my mind has been elsewhere, but I am going out riding after work and just loaded it up and it reminded me I told you I would get you the info.
On the ramp it says" The Ramp Co." and the phone number is 1-800-417-0504.
It is 6 feet long with another about 4 inches for the tabs that lay on the tailgate. It also says on it 1500 pound capacity.
Also, my tailgate is about 26-28" off the ground, depending on what the surface is like.
You might give them a call and see what kind of price they would give and if they could make one longer or one that maybe folds both ways. I don't know what they offer. I have a tri fold aluminum moldel and I paid about $160.00 for it. I got it from my yamaha dealer and they gave me a little discount like $10 or something.
I hope that helps you out. A freind of mine said he saw some type of ramp at costco or one of those type places and they where like fifty bucks apiece.

Thanks for all the help on this yall. I wish I could find a 90" X 50" tri folding ramp but nobody seems to have one. I know that 6' is way too short and 7' will be pretty steep. I might just have to get 2 singles, they seem to come in longer sizes. My trucks not finished yet, when these tire wear down some, I'm going with 38's and couple more inches of lift. If I get something that is close right now, it'll never work with my truck being 3-5" taller. Thanks again for everyone's help!
Thanks for measuring Paul!
