I'm looking for a ramp to get my Raptor in my truck bed. I've seen several but only on the internet, nothing in person. I like the idea of a folding aluminum ramp but not sure on the strength of it. My truck is kinda tall so I need one that's pretty long. Any suggestion (what brand, where to buy and what should I pay)?

Thanks, I've learn a lot of really cool stuff here,
Mitch

.....I forgot to mention; when my tailgate is down, it's 41" from the ground. It's a little too steep for a short ramp.

I bought mine from my yamaha dealer, it is made by somebody in arizona. It is aluminum and plenty strong. I think it says not to exceed 1500 pounds. It is a tri fold and I like it a lot. I could not ride by myself without it.

I will try and find out who makes them. I paid like $160.00 for mine. It is worth every penny. I know a guy who has one also, in fact he sold me on mine, he has an f350 newer body style with a lift on it and he uses the same one I have.

Oh and by the way, I ride my raptor in to the truck bed and I weigh in at 320-330. So I think they are plenty strong.

You might check with your local motorcycle dealers, I bet one of them sells them. Also, might check the classifieds and ebay and places like that. If I find out who makes the one I have, I will post it for your info.

What is the length of your ramp? What is height of you tailgate? Check sig for truck size, not huge but kind of a pain for loading things.

......oh by the way, you're a big fella!

Thanks a lot for the info, I'll check around at the local dealers. I did find this at Cabelas though!

Thanks again,

I will measure it for you in the morning, It is out in my cold dark garage and I really don't feel like going out there tonight. My truck sits fairly low, but like I said I know of at least one guy that uses the same ramp on a f350 with like a 2-4 inch lift. I know he runs 33's and I think it is just a 2 inch lift, but may be higher. Anyway I will post the other info in the morning and I think there might be a tag on it with the place they are built info.

Yes, I am a big guy, a little too big right now, I need to get down to about 250 and I am very comfortable at that weight. enough about me, I will post for you tommorow.

OK Paul, thanks a lot! Just whenever you get a chance, I was just wondering if you knew the height right off hand.

Thanks again,
Mitch

All the aluminum ramps I've seen used have been plenty stong, plus they're light. I have a set of folding steel ramps, and I really can't see any advantage to them if you'll just be using them for atvs. My steel ramps are even starting to rust now where the paint has worn off. My next set (since I'm a lean, mean 150 pounder!) will be an aluminum set mainly due to the light weight! It gets old throwing those heavy things around-they must weigh 40 or 50 lbs.

Mitch,
My buddies got a set of API alum tri-fold. 100 bucks out of Cabela's I believe. They work great, and are light to boot. Good luck!

HillHound; take care of that dog, I love Boxers. I have one too, his name is Boz.
QuadMan400; how do you like that Grizzly? I thought about getting one before the Raptor.

Thanks for the info on the ramps!

Mitch: Nice photos. Our boxers could be twins! By the way how much does your bullmastiff weigh? He could pass for a nose tackle! Enjoy the Raptor (a Raptor and a bullmastiff-you must like mean stuff! ) Good luck finding some ramps. By the way-nice job on your Ford Diesel-it looks sharp.

The aluminum ramps are plenty strong but with a truck that tall you need to get the longest ramps you can find. Most are 6' I think but you'll need 7' or longer, it'll cut down on the steep angle. With a 4x4 you can get up a steep ramp but a 2x4 like the raptor with a little rain you might have a hard time getting up a steep ramp.
