Banshee Airbox ~ Warning!
#12
Yeah it's amazing Yamaha doesn't learn anything from Honda. Yeah a Raptor chain adjustment is light years ahead of the Banshee, but falls short of the 250r,400ex design and my Raptor airbox design is WORTHLESS!!!!!!!!! Why should I spend a 100 bucks on a pro design when Yamaha should have done it in the first place.!

A-MEN!
And what is with that GPOS on top of the Carbs? I had forgotten what a headache those are from my old Blaster days.
Well, even with some minor (and one MAJOR) flaws, Banshees KICK A**!!!!!!!!

When i went to the Dealer and looked under the seat of the 2002 i pull the lid off and it looked the exact same as my 2001? i didnt see how it was changed? whats the difference. I have a pro-flow kit now so it dont matter but just wondering.

My warrior used to use the same crap i made an airbox lid out of aluminum with a built in filter. it fits perfectly in place and its polished aluminum uses a square style K+N filter for a car i guess i picked it up at auto zone for 30 bux. it took me 20 hrs but my filter setup has to be the BEST in all of atving.

<< I have never seen such a worthless piece of junk. >>
I rode my banshee for almost 2 years with the stoke airbox design.... I am not sure what you guys are doing wrong. I agree that it is not the best design...But it works just fine.... Now I run a pro design. But it was not on my mandatory things to do list.
With a bit of care while assembling...it is very reliable.
...and my bike was run in water, sand, mud...you name it.

I know the raptor filter can only go in one way with the slots and the lid holding it. I still don't like it when I am closing the lid becuase you can't see it and know for sure. Yamaha should use a design like my KDX 200. Its in place and you know it. Chet

I agree...My dual sport filter is so easy to attach.... I have tried a few times with the banshee.(to put the lid on wrong) ....It is very hard to close the lid on the banshee if the filter does not fall into the groove...
I used to push the lid forward from the rear of the box...it always seemed to slide right into place. I do agree though...if you have the money, go for the pro design. I just find it hard to sit and listen to all the people that have problems with the airbox. It seems like carelessness to me.
If there is one thing that deserves griping on the banshee. It is the chain adjustment procedure...Now that's a hokey set up. No arguments there.
I love all my wheelers...But in my case, the banshee has been bullet proof...It just plain goes...and quickly at that
