I heard about a Yamaha that had a pto shaft out the rear. Anybody seen/used one of these quads? I might be interested in trying one.

ah the old terrapro`s. they dont make them any more. if you wanna compare them they were like the polaris 6x6 quads except that they had a flat bed on the back instaed of the styled one that is on the polaris`. i dont know if they had a pto rear shaft drive on the back though.

Had one for a few years.

Was it good for anything? Was it a 6x6 like mudman said? 4 wheel drive?

Nope. It only had 4 wheels. Not even 4 wheel drive, but most people don't take a mower in places that require 4-wheel drive. And at the time, having 4-wheel drive would kill the great turning ratios. I don't recall exactly, but I think it had some type of posi-track diff in the rear. Worked well.

Other neat things. A manual clutch. High low range. And cruise control. So you could keep the engine at one RPM without using the thumb throttle.
No flat bed or anything. Just a normal quad with wide rear tires.

I had the mower and rotortiller attachment. The mower was handy and worked quite well. Having control of it on the quad was a plus.
The tiller was OK at best. Getting the 3 point hitch aligned correctly was horrible. took 30 minutes to hook up if you where good at it. And the tiller used a satellite arm to lift up and down. It could not handle the stress and soon broke.

I LOVE the PTO idea. It has so much potential. A water pump for a spray rig. Or a high flow water pump for when you need to empty out a pond. A 5kw generator/welder would be killer. Hydraulic pump would be nice.

I wish Honda would make a quad with a PTO. Some of the areas I need to get back to, was an ATV only with no trailer. Having a built on welder to go fix busted equipment is well worth a higher price.

Honda? Hello? Market here!!
