warrior question

Funny you should ask about the Warrior. I am going to put it on Ebay for an opening bid of $3000.
As for my clutch problems with the 400EX, yeah it's a pain in the a$$ but I call Honda today and they are going to fix it or get me a new quad. Turns out a few of the 400EX's have a timing chain problem and I happened to get one. Great quad though.

Freakystone,
You know whats really sad? You think the Mojave and 300ex are better than a Warrior lol. You obviously don't know sh*t! The Warrior out performs them in in everything (except maybe suspension of the 300ex but its close)! Compare the Warrior to the 400ex with torque, the Warrior wins there! It may not have the top end of the 400ex but it makes up for it with torque and thats what 4 strokes are made for! I can't believe you guys are are bashing the Warrior so much, it's a great all around bike!

If your looking for a way to get the front end up for riding wheelies then try putting on a new exhaust like the Big Gun or White Bros E series, get the proflow intake and filter, and go down to a 20*11*9 tire on the rear like the Holeshots or Razors. With this combo you shouldn't have any problem with the heavy front end coming up. Don't get me wrong about the 400EX it is a great bike, but I really get tired of people bashing the Warrior. The Warrior is a great bike for alot of things. I would rather have the warrior on a steep hill because of the heavy front end, and because I got mine for $4200 cash out the door for a 4 month old quad that would have cost me $5500 or so after all the BS new I think it was a good deal.

whaley01-
Do not get rid of your 87 warrior. I have one and love it. Although is feel much more comfotable on the blaster, the warrior has its respects. To get that ol' front end up you just need to spend a few bux and get a white brothers pro meg pipe. This was the best investment on my warrior ever. IF you want to do good wheelies, put it in 2nd gear, put both feet on you wheelie bar and bounce on the back end. while moving, on the down push nail the gas, the front will pop right up. after practice you should be able to ride you wheelie like this for about 100 feet.

The Same or Better Torque??? You are friggin' nuts. You really should ride a 400EX before you critize one or make such grossly outrageous claims. I on the other hand have had a Mojave, Warrior and a 400EX at the SAME TIME!. All of them 2001 models. The Warrior is a fine quad if you are needing a utility but want to dabble in sport too. But that 350 ccm single cam, 2 valve head stinks. Not knowing any better I can see where a Warrior fan might assume that it has similar torque as a 400EX... Afterall, it should... But not anywhere close. The Mojave's 250 cc, dual cam, 4 valve head, liquid cooled motor thumps the output of a Warrior. My brother has a 98' Warrior and use to make stupid claims about his quad too. Then a few weeks ago I let him ride my Mojave and we said "Nice, very suprising power compared to my Warrior." Then yesterday I let him ride my 400EX. He came back and said "Wow!" So you can talk your crap about Warrior this and Warrior that, but just dont go looking for a 400EX or even a Mojave for that matter hoping to race... You will lose! As for the 300EX... I agree, a Warrior will beat a 300EX but add a few trees and tight turns and you will lose there too.

True- The warrior is a 15 year old desgign but still proves to be reliable and somewhat powerfull. With a few engine mods, adn warrior will spring to life. A high compression piston and gaskets will really help it. Also the WB PM will too.
I have ridden a 400ex. They are awsome on the track but, in the trails it lags. It feels much lighter, yes, but around some of those fast hair pin corners it fails, bamm, hit the tree. Compaired to my warrior the 400ex had about the same amount of torque. I have a 5t bigger sproket on also. The 400ex also feels like your front end is not on the ground. On the MX track this is good, in the trails you think OMG!
A dealers opinion-
After i rebuilt my 87 warrior and took it to colorado, we stopped by a dealership and asked them about the 400ex's and warriors. (we would have bought one if my 87 broke) the dealership was a handa/yamaha dealer. No biases. They said the warrior is much better for the rough trails and big rock in colorado. Also they said it has a more constant powerband. A warrior would do bettter on the trails --The 400ex is more a MX racer and some what of a trailing quad. As they went on the 400ex does not have the proper motor for trials and the chassis is set up all wrong for the tough trails in colorado. (this dealership was in colorado springs. They were refering to riding in the gunnison/almont/aspen area)

hi iam new i mostly just read your forums but when i seen your forum i couldnt help myself. Dont take this as a attack just a bit of advice I own a warrior not your average warrior ohlins shocks up frt, tcs rear, wb e-series wb cam, r+d titanium valve springs, wiseco .020 over, fully ported head, electron carb, polished aluminum intake, custom fabricated aluminum top for my airbox K+N resides in the lid (i work sheetmetal for a living), dg bumper, grab bar a-arm skids, chasis skids, and a prm rear skid, subaki chain and sunline sprockets, durablue carrier and eliminator axle, frt wheel spacers, last rebel seat cover, and alba graphics, dg nerfs, custom lights with custom fabricated aluminum mount all side covers are polished as well my hand made pieces my fins are also polished on the edges as well as my carb. o and a new piece a custom made frame guard. On the way is a alumminum battery box. Some will say this guy is nuts a warrior? Why because i can. The warrior is not the best bike but i guarantee your stock ex will die in the woods or on the strip. The best bike i reserve that for the 250r I have rode many bikes and none compare........none. thats my opinion. but it seems you have a lot of money to go buy new 01 models and not work on any old ones. I only have the highest regard for those that can ride and also repair thier own stuff you my friend i dont believe posses this quality. there fore do not judge when your mechanical intelligence is so very limited.

If you want to lighten the front end...get a minus 1" swing arm for it. The front will no longer feel heavy.
As far as the warrior Vs. 400ex thing goes. Well...I, too have owned both. The warrior is a good trail quad...But that's it. Period. The 400ex is an all around better performer (with or without reverse). Just slow as hell. The Honda engine will last longer.
I liked my warrior for what is was intended to be used for. But it would not make it into my top 5 choices for a quad.
