Well ive have been emailing big gun for a week now. and they just told me that there new quiet series silencer is not at 94db its actually 96 db witch will not pass the 94db law they told me to hang in there for a couple more weeks they have a new silencer in the works
and the rumor is the fmf q core sounds like crap and needs re-packing every 20 hours

SO THE QUEST FOR A SILENCER IS STILL ON!!!

At least they were honest with you. Imagine if you cruised to Silver Lake with your new "94dB" pipe and got left sitting in the parking lot because you were too loud. I'm waiting for a quiet pipe also, and BG is at the top my list. Unfortunately, it's a pretty short list because not many are working on "quiet" pipes.

Excellent research on your part. If you will, keep me posted on this as well. I would like to purchase the Big Gun, "Quiet Core" exhaust as well. I will wait for it if I have too. I was also considering the GYTR Carbon Fiber exhaust. I just don't know what the difference will be between loudness and power difference.

Just to chime in here,

The GYT-R Carbon Fiber Exhaust is VERY loud. It will not pass the 94db limit, that is for sure.

B: 96 is quiet compared to everyone elses
C: if they do get it below or equal to 94,it's going to lose alot of power.

I talked with paul at big gun a couple weeks ago on this subject. The real problem is the shear amount of air a raptor moves, it's got a lot of CCs. The 96 quiet core is a 2 horse (give or take some) loss across the entire spectrum when compared to the race series. I'm sure if they get it down below 94 it's going to be an even bigger loss.

You want quiet, run stock. You want more power, it's going to make more noise.

 

well the main reason iam getting a silencer is first the looks second would be the alloy won't rust and third would maybee a few extra ponies. all in all i am happy with my raptors power. oh yeah and it will save some weight. as far as the 94 db well that just the law. why buy a loud silencer and be limited on where i can ride!

THERE IS A SUPPERTRAP TYPE OF END CAP /SILENCER/SPARK AREESTOR.IT HAS THE TYPICAL CHANGEABLE DISCS.MORE DISCE MORE POWER MORE NOISE,,,LESS DISCS LESS POWER LESS NOISE...BEST OF BOTH WORLDS,,WHEN NOISE IS A CONCERN SIMPLY PUT THE SILENCER/SPARK ARRESTOR BACK ON OR REMOVE DISCS.ON A RAPTOR IT TESTED BEST WITH 12 DISCS IN AN ATV MAGAZINE,,ACTULY ADDED TORQUE IN MIDRANGE..I STILL RUN OPEN END CAP.BUT ITS LOUD.
MY PRO CIRCUIT HAS THE QUIET CORE INSERT AND THAT MAKES A BIG NOISE DIFFRENCE,AND LOSES SOME POWER.I JUST REMOVED THE INSERT AND WONT PUT IT BACK IN UNLESS I NEED TO LOWER NOISE DB.
THERE ARE TWO DIFFERNT CAPS ONE HAS A NICE ENGRAVED ALUMINUM END PICE THE OTHER HAS A STAINLESS STEEL PICE.I THINK THE STEEL WAS ABOUT 20 DOLLARS LESS.
DISCS ARE THE SAME SIZE AS USED ON CAR SUPERTRAP MUFFLERS.SO IF YOU HAVE AN OLD ONE AROUND YOU CAN BASICLY USE THE DISC PACK ON YOURE ATV,I HAD THE MUFFLER BUT NO DISCS(YOU ALWAYS LOOSE WHAT YOU NEED)..IF ANYONE HAS ANY EXTRA DISCS I NEED 4 MORE.THESE ARE A FEW REMIDIES HOPE THEY HELP YOU.
