installing an hour meter on Raptor?
#1
I was thinking of putting an hour meter under the seat on my raptor to make sure I keep track of maintenance at regular intervals.
Does anyone know of a good 12v lead that always has power when the key is on? I could probably pull right from the ignition switch itself, but are there any closer leads under the seat? I know the battery is right there, so I assume there is a switched power lead nearby...
Thoughts?

i have the yamaha hour / tach on my raptor it has no lead wire. they have
a 10 year battery. just one wire that you wrap around the spark plug wire
it sences when the motor is on and keeps trac. i mounted it right under the handle
bars to the side on the flat plastic its about 1.5 by 1.5 dim.

I bought mine from SenDec. It looks just like the Yamaha but says SenDec instead and cost less. They have several styles to choose from.

I can't find the papers on mine and I don't remember the rpm limit. I bought the combo tach/hour meter but I was mainly interested in keeping up with the oil change interval. I think it was about $35. The tach is not a very good one in that it is slow to react so I hardly pay any attention to it. I think just the hour meter is around $20. I am sure you can pay a lot more but for just keeping up with the hours, it is just fine.
