I am not sure a warrior could beat a 400ex; but, it may because a warrior does have a 6th gear that the 400 does not. I would like to see that race. It would have to be a good long stretch to give time for the 6th gear change. Any way they are both cool bikes. I prefer to be able to back-up at the flip of a switch.

I have both a Warrior and 400EX. The EX has a lot more power, therefore it gets to its top speed much sooner. When you line the two side by side the Warrior will NEVER catch the 400, but if you have both of them in high gear side by side and run wide open the 400 is just a little faster - not much.

But really, what does top speed matter?? 99% of the time you don't use the top speed, just the power to get you there. Any quad that is chain drive can have their top speed increased by changing the sprockets.

I agree top speed is not a big deal very often and I personally have done the sprocket change, mostly because I lost 2 inches of height on my rear tires. I ride in the woods were mid range is most of what I need. I really like the 400ex but cannot get past the need for reverse. I also like to be able to do alot of maintance. Does the 400 lack grease fittings like my friends 300ex or can you grease some joints?
P.S. I am holding out for a 400 warrior but if it never shows I really hope Honda puts reverse on their 400. I have owned a Honda in the past an it held up good.

I have a 99 Warrior and it is fast but I know for a fact that it can't out run a 400EX. And I also know that my Warrior can reach 63MPH. But speed means nothing not unless you are drag racing them.

Don't know about the Warrior, but my 1998 wolverine does 52mph on the level straight aways at 1200' elevation. In our group it will eat the Recon,Bayou, and Big Bear, but won't touch the Grizzly or the 400 ex. I kill em in the woods though. The Wolverine wins in versatility in my book.

From what I have observed, I would have to
say 56-59 for the Warrior and 50-54 for the
Wolverine.

Of course I may be mistaken.(never seen any
Radar on it, nor has 4-Wheel ATV)

Wolverine, yes it is still the True definition of a Sport/Utility, its one of if
not the lightest 4X4, it's overall handling
is great(carves turns like a str8 razor through warm cool whip), Jumping! it jumps like no other 4x4, easy to control in the air
dose not lose composure after hard landings,
I know full well the Scramblers have more Power, a claimed tighter turning radius, and longer suspension travel.

But they are more of a Sport 4x4(and the best
sport 4X4's ever made and will most likely always be) but in my humble yet well ridden view, nothing turns and jumps like the Wolverine(in the realm of 4X4's that is)

Sorry I got off the Point.
but that's what I had to say

and if you don't like it!

Have a Great Day

MADDOG357:
I have to agree that reverse is missed, but it is something that is given up for the extra power and superb handling. I truly think that reverse is going to be a thing of the past in the "sport quad" category. Not that I am happy about that, but it is just the way that I think things are heading. I would rather see a back-up for starting the engine than reverse.
As for the grease fittings, there are not hardly any on the 400EX, and you know that the Warrior has tons. This is the first Honda I have owned since my 200 Big Red 3-wheeler. I hope that the bushings in the a-arms hold up to Honda's proven reliability reputation.

Good Riding
