I have a 1999 Yamaha Warrior and when it is cold out or I haven't ridden it in awhile it will smoke a little bit when you start it. Does anyone else have this problem?

It's probably just condensation from the warm exhaust combined with the moisture in the system when it hits the outside cold air.

As long as your not USING oil excessively,I really would'nt worry to much about a little smoke at start-up,especially if the quad has been sitting for awhile.BILL

smokin at start up is realy quite normal...i ouldnt worry about it unless it is very old then it could be the rings on the piston if it smokes al the time u ride and not just for a minute ot two when u start it...

Its most likely your valve stem seals seaping oil, not a major prob. What kind of oil are you using, and do you change it often?

Thanks you guys I though maybe something was wrong. Cause it only does it when it is cold and it only last for about two minutes and after you get going it will quit.

Usually will happen until engine warms up and piston/rings expand to form good seal. As long as it stops after warm, don't worry. Like the other post stated, could just be moisture. As long as you are not burning oil and the smoke is not blueish...I also recommend starting your bike and letting is warm completely before you go speeding away. I see several guys where I ride start a cold engine and rev the snot out of it and take off full throttle.. Not a good idea unless you like to rebuild motors.
