Want a Grizzly...Talk me out of a Rubicon!
#22
Yes it has been pretty good, not great though. I was having heat problems, but helped this out by switching to synthetic oil, and being diligent on keeping the oil cooler clean. The one thing I hate about the machine, and Yamaha screwed up here...no back-up rope start! I have gone through 2 batteries in the last couple of years. The only thing I can attribute to this is I don't ride alot between hunting trips and my batteries got discharged sitting for long periods. A battery tender has solved this problem, but every machine needs a rope start! Based on you guys responses, I'm going to wait and take a hard look at the Rubicon & Grizzly this spring. Also, has anyone had a problem with the fender flares on the Grizz? We do alot of tree bump'n working our quads through the woods dragging deer. I have heard that they break off! TF

The fender extensions of what you speak,
do not themselves break off, they are attached by a plastic fastener which will
give before either fender or extension
break or distort, think Fuse in an Electrical
circuit, Safety Valve on a Boiler or Hot Water Heater, or a Butterworth Coupling on a
Pump or other shaft driven mechanisim(usually maritime related).
These fastners are not expensive, I always
carry a dozen or so with me, never had to use them but I've handed some out to those
who needed, and have seen it function(friend
hit a Tree at a good clip)and it dose work.
The Heating problem, I see you cured it using
maintenance and common sense.
Electrical problems can occur anytime there is a circuit involved, even MilSpec has a failure rate, that particular problem should
have been easy for the Dealer to fix(try not
to fix anything yourself if its under Warranty).
No way will I try to dissuade you from checking out the Rubicon!
I'm takin' a good look my myself
