I used to race gokarts back a few years ago, some guys would shave heads on the motors to gain a little more compression, which increases power, take it to an experienced machine shop, with a little of the top and a higher compression piston, maybe even a bore job, and porting it should scream, this does however cause more heat in the combustion chamber, so dont go over bored, you may also need to rejett your carb.
