Questions About the banshee???
#13
i just wanted to clear up some of the confusion on the toomey pipes.
in the sept. 95' 4WA there is a banshee pipe shootout. i didnt spot the actual quote, but on the dyno chart, the toomeys made about 17hp more than stock...at 9500rpm when the stock pipe is makin about 16 or 17hp and drops under 10hp a few hundred rpm later.
at peak the toomeys made 46.2hp vs the stockers 39hp

I'll back up that 17 hp number as well. They measured it at a point where the stock pipes were past their peak power. According to the same dyno mentioned above, at 7000 rpm there is a 5.5 hp gain, at 7900 there is a 17 hp gain, at 8500 rpm there is a 13 hp gain, at 9000 rpm there is a 16 hp gain, and at 9500 rpm there is a 20 hp gain. I have the dyno runs from the DW article, from Toomey and from Dyno-Jet. They're all pretty darn close.
Next time any of you want to dispute what someone says, you'd better back it up with contradictory facts. Saying that something "sucks" is irrelevant, unproductive and unnecessary, not to mention that it shows that your opinions are less than credible.
If any of you that are claiming that the T-5's "suck" had bothered to read the FMF Fatty pipe test in the atvconnection product review section, you would have noticed that according to FMF, the Fatty's put out the SAME peak hp as the T-5's.
Aluminum pipes??? Aluminum melts at 1450 degrees F. Not a good scenario for an exhaust pipe. By the time the exhaust gets to the silencer, it's cooled enough as to not cause damage.

OMG, the stock banshee has like 39hp and does about 71 stock. Pipes will give you like 3 extra horse power but pickup will be better. Banshees some cool! Sand rider, who are you calling an idiot?

I think some of us read to many magazine articles and crazy claims from part builders. If you go by every horse power claim every part nut and bolt that some of these guys build ads x amount of HP if you added it all up your quad will be making millions of HP. I work for a professional top fuel drag team and one thing I learned in drag racing don't believe everything you read.

Wow, 17 hp is about like a bore kit! 17 horse is about stock hp for a blaster. What am I doing with porting and boring, and other traditional hoursepower building methods...when I can get toomey pipes! 39 + 17hp = 56hp! All I can say is it must be magic.
39hp / 56hp = .435897436
39 * .43589736 = 56hp
Thats a 43.589% increase in horsepower!!!
Radical dude, rock on!
