grizzly 660 vs kaw 650 the race
#1
I have seen the movie on atvdude and all i can say is this,we lined up a 660 grizzly and a 650 kawasaki and the results were quite different from there results, first both drivers were equal weight, height, and skill, second both machines had about 700 miles on them, we raced on hard packed ground,2wd/4wd and soft ground 2wd/4wd,both in short and 1/4 mile drags, and the grizzly never could keep up with the kawasaki, the kaw650 plain smoked it, so i dont know why other people say different???are they just to loyal to admit a bike isnt as fast??(i own the grizz!!!!)there is one kaw complaint, the engine seems to over heat but it should be broken in by now .i was told a hi lifter heat kit helps, but should we have to buy parts for a machine we pay $6/7k for?.any one else have an overheat problem?or different race outcome?

It seems that almost all of the 650s have bad choke cables. The choke works, but the problem is the cable is too short and it causes the choke to be parially engaged and the motor runs rich. Most people don't even know there bike is running rich. I didn't notice mine untill my friend was riding behind me and said it was giving off black smoke. It also backfired on steep decents using engine braking. The dealer checked it out and sure enough the choke was staying on. Now the cable is disconected and it seems to run faster than before.

its a fact! we raced two different sets of 660's and 650's---on pavement and dirt roads. the prairie won every time! the prairie is more comfortable also.yamaha has the edge in the looks category. they offer more colors (incuding a mar-resistant camo hardwooods) kawasaki should have offered a camo finish or at least offered a green that doesnt scratch so easily. it seems yamaha and honda has a better scratch resistance than the kaw plastic. the idea of independent rear suspension is entertaining to me but has more parts to worry about. the left handed shifter on the yamaha is very very very cumbersome as compared to kawasaki's almost perfect right handed shifter.it just seems to me that kawasaki did their homework with the new features a little better than did yamaha as far as technology goes.the piggyback reservoir on the shock of the 650 is incredible over jumps in regards to the weight of the machine.read the posts! kawasaki clearly wins the open class quad utility battle---all the magazines say it too. eye brows up and hands out?
