I was wondering if anyone knew the decibal level of a completely stock raptor? I am interested in a performance exhaust but don't want it to be ear numming loud. I know of the new quiet series by white and fmf(94)decibals.please help? no info at yamaha web site.

Stock levels: I don't know what the exact decibel level is but it is quieter than a warrior and louder than a 300EX which isn't to hard to do. It would have to be at or below 82 decibels in my opinion. . Chet

well according to dirt wheels a stock 400ex is at 88 db and the raptor is louder
than a ex. also those pipe companies that claim under 94 db that test was done
a smaller cc quad like the 400 ex ive talked to mike and paul from big gun
they told me there quiet pipe for the raptor was at 96db and NO one has a pipe
out that will be under that. they also said they have a new pipe in the work
and it will be out in 2002.

The FMF Quite Core pipe is louder than the stock pipe. I'm willing to bet it's louder than 94 db too. If you notice their web page, they say it's 94 db on a 426 dirt bike, not on a Raptor.

I can hardly believe a stock Raptor is that loud with the spark arrester in place and its over 88 decibels! My KDX 200 is rated at 82 decibels (it states it on the pipe) and the Raptor is no louder than that machine. If the stock Raptor is over 88 decibels and my nephews warrior is louder with his stock pipe then a Warrior must be way over 90 decibels. I would like to know how dirt wheels took there measurements. chet, the db stamped on your pipe was measured when the pipe was NEW with
all the packing. every pipe gets louder that maybe why the others you mentioned
were louder!

VMAX12,
There is no packing in the Raptors stock
pipe or the KDX 200 stock pipe. What do you mean by packing when its all metal inside? What I remember about packing on my KX250 is it is placed in the removable stinger and replaced when it gets oil soaked. Then you put in new fiberglass packing. Chet
