After 6 months, I finally found what I wanted and could afford. I picked up a 95 Wolverine for $2000 yesterday. Does anyone know of any known problems with these machines? Also, what are some inexpensive performance mods. that work? And last, I'll need tires soon. What tires out there give good traction? Thanks in advance.

You got a pretty good deal Matt. The Wolverine is one of the most versatile quads on the market. Most of the other 4x4 quads weigh so darn much. I would recommend Hotshots. Go to a smaller size if you want more pep and a larger size if you want to grab more mud and top end.

I used to own a Wolverine, Bought it new sold it after 3 years for a sport quad.
Awesome machine does everything good.
The only problems I had with mine was the BRakes, Front bearings, Carb pop off.

The wolverine eats brakes, Expect brakes to wear quickly.
Make sure you grease the front bearings in the wheel hubs.
They do get dirt built in there. Had to replace mine.
Carb popped off, I put on a set of big gun pipes, and it blew off my carbs a few times. A larger clamp fixed the problem.

I loved the wolverine. Again, Awesome choice.

Congrats on you new bike MattDewalt. $2000 is a very good price for a wolverine.

Thanks for the input so far. Got it home last night and was able to look over real good. The only thing wrong that I found with it was 2 rust hole in the bottom of the muffler. Now I know why it is loud. Does it hurt anything to leave it this way? If so, can anyone recommend an economical pipe that won't cause me to lose power and will not require me to re-jet? Or is it better just to put on a good pipe and jet kit? Performance seems to be good now, but since this is my first atv, I have nothing to compare against. My friend picks up his Grizzly 600 tomorrow and will switch off to see the differences between the two.

MattDewalt,
Two grand for a Wolverine is a STEAL. Go to www.rockymountainatv.com and get a K&N jet kit and a K&N air filter coming. That's your first mod no matter what you ride, and they are pretty cheap relatively speaking. The instructions and installation are straight forward and if you have any questions, people will be able to answer them here in the forum. Also pick up a Clymer manual for about $25 or so to answer all your qustions about maintainance and how to do the easy things yourself. The muffler with the hole isn't critical, but plan on getting a pipe for it in the future. Rocky Mountain has a selection of those also.

Actually, I think I have a Service manual for a wolverine. I bought it in 98. I don't need it. If your interested 10.00 + shipping??

Fairly good condition. Im not sure what shipping would be from las vegas.

If interested let me know.

I do agree with The earlier post about the muffler and jet kit. It does open the engine up.

As far as being compared to the grizzly.
Wolverine is slower than the grizzly.
I feel the wolverine is more manueverable. And you can move alot faster in tighter trails.
Drag and top speed he's got ya.

BUT, you only paid 2000, compared to his 5k+.
Enjoy your ride!!!
