Purchased a '00 Kodiak in late October. Package came with a Cycle Country snow plow. I am considering installing a Warn 2000# winch. Any suggestions or comments????

The WARN 2000 uses plastic parts on the free-wheel switch end. They can fail under certain conditions. With the price and all the hype, I recommend a Superwinch.

WARN makes excellent winches for automobiles and have quite a reputation but I will be replacing my broken WARN winch (made for an ATV) with a Superwinch.

My dad has a Warn winch on his 00'Big Bear and we put it to work today. He's only used it once, but it worked fine and pulled his Big Bear out of the swamp with no problems at all.

An internal mechanical brake is handy for a winch when used to lift a snowplow blade. The mechanical brake prevents the load from slipping over time from the planetary geartrain.

The SuperWinch ATV2000 comes with an internal spring brake standard; the part is available for retrofitting the SuperWinch T1500 at $ 22.00.

Add-on brakes are also available for Warn A2000 and A2500 winches.
