I called the dealership and they said they had a 2002 Blue Raptor on the showroom floor. I went their and filled out all the paper worka and signed a few things. They had taken it to the back to get it ready to load up and then I notice on the papers that the quad was a 2001. I told them I wanted the 2002 because of all the changes to them and they told me that Yamaha didn't change anything to the 2002s. I argued with them and told them that it didn't matter, because I wanted a 2002. Anyway, I finally got mad and left the dealership. I will try to pick one up this week at another local dealership.

 

i know what you are talking about!! you think the dipshi* dealers should be obligated to know a little something about the product they are selling. what a crock!

 

Yeah, I talked to several a couple months ago and some swore up and down that they had 2002's. I asked them to double check and they all came back and said oh, I was wrong they are 2001.

I find the dealers are just like car dealers, you are lucky if you find a saleman that knows more than the color and model of the car or motorcycle you are looking for. I am one who researches everything before I buy and when I walk in I know my stuff. Most dealers know very little of what I have found within a few days of reading and searching the net.

back before i had gotten my EX i was planning on getting a raptor and the dealer guy said there were no changes to a 2002 either... this guy was a complete moron and he wanted to sell me a 300EX and wouldn't give anything else a chance. me and my dad got out of there and drove quite a ways to a different dealership were we got the 400EX

 

You did the right thing man. That's a lot of money not to get exactly what you want. I have a 2001 and love it, but you did the right thing.
