I took my bike the shop and they said that my bike seized up. what happened was, i was riding my bike,{blaster} in 4th gear wide open, and all of a sudden my bike just turn off.I tried kicking it and it had compression but i still was easier to kick than what it was.my dad and i took the spark plug out and put some gas on it and it started up after about ten kicks and it sounded like it was running fine for about 10mins and it just died.So i took it to the shop and they said that it "seized up". If someone could just tell me what that means. THANX

In the auto world, seized usually means that the engine will not even turn over. I am not sure in the motorcycle world, but I would think it means the same thing. If it can be turned over, then it would not be seized.

I could be wrong about this, as two stroke motorcycle engines are a different beast than car engines.

Blasterfatty,

"Seized up" usually means that the piston has seized in the bore. The fact that you were able to restart the bike leads me to believe that you have other problems including a dishonest dealer.

To my understanding (limited) if it was seized, then you should not have been able to kick it over or start it again.

If I'm wrong guys, please let me know.

Also, You might just go and ask your dealer what he means by seized up. Because what you explain does not sound seized up to me.

Maybe you were talking to someone who just doesnt know what they are talking about. I visit with my local dealer all the time and to be honest, I like them, but they know very little about the bikes that they sell. For example, first time I took the wife to look at the raptor, the owner of the shop was talking with her and he said this thing is fast, It will do like 50 mph.

So, maybe you got someone like that, someone who just doesnt know what they are talking about.

My thoughts

Seized up usually means that your engine got too hot and the piston melted onto the cylinder. if the engine turns over, that means it is not Seized up. you probably burned out your rings and lost compression, which would explain why it was easier to kick over. laterz

Maybe they meant that the ring seized in the piston. This happened to my YZ 80 (along with other serious problems). But the bike was able to be turned over, just with no compression, almost like the spark plug was out. The bike would not start after this though. If that happened to your bike it would not start back up. But again, go to your dealer and see what they say. You might want to try dealing with anohter shop if you don't fine the answer your looking for.
