What is up with the Raptor Clutch.I had a 2001 raptor and when riding in very tight trails when you really have to work and feather the clutch to get out of a tight area all of a sudden the damm clutch goes completely soft and then begins to smoke.Ive been riding for over 15 years and it never happened on any7 other quads ive owned.Well I just picked up a 2002 Raptor hoping they fixed the clutch problem along with upgrading the gear problems and sure as S---t while doing some trail riding today the clutch did the same damm thing.Cmon YAMAHA give us a break!!!!!!!!Does anyone no if I change to an aftermarket clutch if it cures this problem??What a joke. You spend 6500 on a quad and you have to go and put a clutch in it!!!!!!!I do remember other people posting about clutch problems in the raptor for 2001.Please help me out here.I guess I shuold have waited till suzuki or honda came out with their quad.Damm YAMAHA!!!!!!!

What type of oil do you run? I run Maxima and I abuse the hell out of my clutch and it never fades at all... it is still stock, too.

If your clutch is really bugging you upgrade to a Barnett Dirt Digger competition clutch kit.

I have a six spring conversion clutch system for the Raptor. It will cost you $300 bucks. BUT before you go that route, make sure you are not (or your dealer is not) installing synthetic or any other improper oil.

yeah let us know what oil you are using. i have only used yamalube and yamaha filters. i overheated my clutch and lost it but it came back after cooling down. i havent ridden it much since but i think i took some serious life out of my clutch. i know of several people personally that have smoked their clutches in their raptors. crap like this really makes 400ex buddies crow with joy.
