Does the clutch on an auto-clutch machine sit in oil like it does on a manual clutch'd machine? thanks

By auto-clutch you do mean a manual shift, right? Then yes, it is still a wet clutch.
If you are refering to the clutchs on an automatic such as an ultramatic, then no, they aren't wet.
