Will a clutch kit put me close or are they a waste? and what about the power adder kits from highlifter. i never had much luck with pipes on 4stroke quads. with all of tese mods has any one seen a griz run. and will it take a 500HO with these mods????

My friend got the 660 conversion kit to beat those pesky 550ho's. It comes pre assembled as a complete quad, he just traded in the old quad.

You can pump up any motor. I have seen it done to some unlikely ones. I think I would trade up though.

Although I know nothing about the 600, I bet the basics (pipe, air filter + possibly filter box opening, jet kit) will do some good to it. Don't just rely on someone's jet kit. Verify that it is set right. Sometimes, I see someone adding only a pipe or only a filter, and it does not have much effect. I get best results from doing all of those mods together, then make sure the jetting is right. Playing with the plates in those supertrapp mufflers has helped my brother get a lot more horses from his 250X. I am nervous about airbox mods on a 4x4 quad because I am not sure it might negatively affect water performance.

Well first,

The HO only beats it in the middle range, in ATV Action they said on take off the grizz beats it and then middle is where the HO beats it a little then top end the grizz comes back even with it. I've been up with a HO and if it could keep a belt on without burning it off maybe we would know for sure. Something is wrong with these machines, they get really hot and melt the belt right off, he had pieces coming through his air vent.
Anyway they are both fast enough that if you roll your dead.

I raced a 2000 Griz with my 99 Sportsman non HO and we were dead even tell we hit top speed then I slowly left him behind we raced 3 times and switched riders with the same results. My father has a 2001 HO Sportsman and it smokes my 99 Sportsman so I would say there is alot you would have to do if you want it to be faster.

Now that’s funny my bud and me have raced my 600 and his reg 500 sportsman many times. Every time he kills me off the line and then I walk on him very hard and pull away. If we are moving he has no chance. The best run with a reg 500 I get is from my other friends 500 mag but I also pull away from him. And my quad has heavier super swamper tires on it also. So I would say you have a freak 500 sportsman or that griz is not running right. I am not that far from taking that 500Ho if I could get off of the line. He kills me with the hole shot and I never can catch back up. That’s why I am asking if any one has had good luck with the clutch kits in the 600griz. I guess I should ride my banshee more rather than trying to make my work quad go faster, lol .

Check to make sure your buddy is not in 4*4, my friend did the same to me and was in 4*4 when I was in 2wd. Well when we were both in 4*4 it was a different story. The grizzly is what 125lbs lighter. It should easily beat it on take off.
They all weigh alot when you have to stop fast.
