Winter treads for Raptor
#1
Guys help me out. I need new rubberand winteris rolling into New england. If we get anything close to what we got last year in snow... the stock treads will not due.
I like the Realter A/T's. i think for snow and dirt they're a happy medium. The idea is to run Maxxis Razors in the front. and get a set of rear Razors for the dryer weather.
Your thoughts please.
A buddy of mine purchased a set of Paddle Masters and he plans on running with those.
anyone with experience riding on Realters? What size do you recommend for the Raptor? Stock rims are dogged, so i'll be replacing them as well?

i always hear realtors are great...paddlemaster are probably awesome too but since their fairly new not too many people have experience with them in snowy conditions. have u ever thought of a snow traxx kit? my buddys friend has a raptor with snow traxx but he had em custom made so i dunno if any1 offers an actual kit for the raptor...

I'm the opposite. I have a set of Bandit fronts and Sur Trac rears on my 400EX. First, the square profile of the front tires make them hunt really easy if you catch a little snow. On the other hand, the stock Raptor tires, are a round profile and I found they were better trying to keep in the tracks, as they would 'bounce' you back into the center.
I also preferred the stock rear tires, over the sur trac 22". They had more bite and would float better than any other setup I could find last year. Guys were using Spider Tracs, Sur Tracks, Ohutsu Rears, Banshee Rears, etc. The Raptor went better, farther, longer without getting stuck. I'm sure it also had something to do with the extra HP, but I am still at least 40lbs heavier than the 400EX.
My only complaint with the stock tires, is that they don't slide very well. But, for pure traction, they work well in most conditions. The snow allows them to slide much better so you don't notice that issue in the winter.
I will run them again in the snow, and buy a new set next year for the winter, so the ***** are sharp.
I have had friends who have run the Realtors. Like all Bandit tires, they are extremely tough, and last a long time. They are an OK winter tire. Make sure you don't go with a square profile front for the winter.
Good luck,
RM

True True,I had spider Trax mounted on my Raptor last winter for the snow and my buddy with a 400ex with the stock tires would go through anything while i was getting stuck everywhere.Im pretty sure the stock 400ex tires are pretty much the same as the stock raptor tires. This year im running the STOCKERS in the snow.At least they are good for something.
