What i wanna know is what i can do too make my atv better at getting out or better yet not even gettin stuck in the mud would help. Thanks

Hey i bought a 2002 2 weeks ago. I hunt and every thing and the tires suck for mud and thats what i basically ride in. Water i go in but not far cause i haven't built a snorkel yet. Right now its in the shop cause of a bad starter button. But ya 1st thing i'm buying is tires cause the stock ones suck they just cake up and have no traction.

sorry about this i just re-read your post and knee deep mud is pretty deep. cause you have ot figure stock ground clearance is i believe 9 inches or so and your knee is higher then nine inches so i would say taller tires and a lift kit. A little expensive but that would help. I'm gonna get tires and a lift soon. I'll tell you if i go through more then usual. later

I have 26x12x12 sur tracs on my wolverine,,,They have the same tread pattern as bear claws except that the tread is spaced farther apart...
Mud and Snow,,,good alround tire....Got stuck one time,, because
i pulled in a mudd patty field,, to pull out a friend and I thought i could use the same tracks and back out....wrong.. tread pattern is directional,,, tires balled up like slicks....I ran the mud off and
pulled him out backwards no problem.....

Well, heres some tips to help you through mud-
- when you drive in mud, go fast and keep on the throttle, never let off.
- turn the handle bars from side to side to give the tires some bite and help move away some mud from the front tires.
- If you see that one front tire isn't turning(3wd syndrome), tap the brakes while you keep on the throttle.
- Keep a rope hany so friends can pull you out.
- If you notice your not going anywhere and just spinning, just stop, your only digging in deeper, and you end up having a hard time to get un-stuck.
Hope this helps

If you want to go wider when you add on the bigger wheels, get a wheel spacer kit...you can find them at highlifter.com
