Lookin' at new Pick-ups. V-10 SuperDuty Ford F-250 Lariat

Get the Ford. My family has had 3 Chevy's, all with problems (our truck is sitting at the shop right now) Im not biased in any way, but our Ford has 80,000+ miles with no problems at all. Ask anyone who had owned them both and see what they prefer. Also, take a test drive...that could make the decision for you. Take it easy, good luck cya

Since I am a FORD guy that works for a GMC dealer I'd say the FORD's are a little more rugged. However, the Chevrolet's and GMC's are not bad trucks either. Just don't lift them. The new body style GM's don't handle big tires. We see a lot of them coming in with control arm, ball joint, and steering linkage's wasted.

I guess I can't say anything about the Ford vs. Chevy thing, because I have never owned a Chevy. I have owned two Ford pickups. The first one had 175,000 miles on it when I got rid of it(1978 F-250 4x4). Other than normal replacement items(brakes, tires, starter, etc) the only thing I ever did to it was replace a couple of U-joints. My current Ford Pickup has 130,000 miles on it. Its an 89 F-250 4x4, the only thing I've had to do to this one is replace the coil once. Beyond that it has never left me stranded anywhere, a very reliable rig!

P.S My neighbor has an F-250 V-10 Lariat. He has owned it now for about a year, and hasn't had a single problem with it. He traded his 3/4 ton Chevy for it, because he was sick of all the problems he was having with it.

Brought home the new toy hauler last night.
I bought the F250 Lariat Crew cab 4X4 V10 and am very happy. I drove the diesel, and it was nice and you could feel the torque difference, but in the end we decided the V10 would do everything we need and more.
And with the interest rate incentives, my payment only went up a little, but for a shorter term and better interest rate.
I am loving this monster of a truck already.

Congradulations on the new ride. It's an awesome machine. Let the mods begin! First, if it came with Firebombs, ditch them and get Goodyears. The Goodyear ATS's have better traction, ride better, and don't blowout. Check out www.ford-diesel.com for a good forum on the Super Duties, both gas and diesel.

Batoutahell, sweet new rig I wish I could have one.
fourlix, Do note that in 2003 Ford will have some new engines. The new Powerstroke2 is coming out. It is supposed to add torque, horsepower, and mileage. The specs on it are awesome. Do some searching if you are interested. Another thing to note is gearing. Different gearing will yeild different mileage. 4.10 gears will give great power, but less mileage on the highway. 3.51(I think thats the current offer) wont have as much power (still tow whatever you throw at it it) but will give better mileage. Wtih 3.51 gears I have friends that get 19-21 in the city and 24 on the highway. Resale around here at least is a ton better on diesels, since that is what everyone here wants. Diesel is always cheaper when you get on a highway. At truck stops it is almost always lower price than gasoline. Diesel at truck stops is better quaility than in the city. Less additives to cut down on polution, less sulfer(spelling?) and always fresh due to the quantity they go through. Look at what Mr45auto said, he has the V-10 with the second to best highway gears, "With an auto trans and 3.73 rear end I get 13.5 on the Hwy and 11 city". All in all it comes down to what you can afford. If you can afford a diesel, you wont be sorry.
