I have replaced the upper steering stem bushing along with the lower bearing on my Wolverine. There is still some play side to side. Not like worn ball joints, but when you push front to back or left to right. It seems the play is in the upper bushing, almost like it is too big, but the bushing is new. All the Yamaha's I have looked at have the same bushing set up. Could the steering stem be worn out? It did not seem to have any grooves worn it. It doesn't appear to be a safety issue, just aggrevating. Any idea's?

I've seen guys tape around the steering stem then put the bushing over the tape to take up the slack. Sounds mickey mouse but it works.
