I have a stock 2000 Banshee. I bought ot used and it has a NGK BR8EG in it, which is the wrong plug. NGK says to use a B8ES, B8EV(Fine Wire), or a B8EVX(Platnum). Should I get the regular B8ES or go for the VX version? Any idea how having a resistor plug hurts or helps?

Thanks...

Matt,

Yeah, just run the BR8ES or the B8ES...doesn't matter. The only thing that the resistor does is reduce electromagnetic interference that can screw up on board electronics. I think that they are mainly designed for cars because of the computers that control the fuel systems (they can be very sensitive to that stuff). As for a Banshee? I don't think you have to worry about it.

I run the BR8ES (or B8ES) in my Banshee and it hasn't fouled one yet (been in there for a long time). The only time you would need to switch to the higher priced plugs is if you have been fouling the other ones. You won't see much of a performance difference between spark plugs so don't believe all of that hype. In such a small horsepower motor the gaines probably aren't even measureable.

Hope this helps.

Oh by the way...your EG plug that you have in it is mainly used for racing applications. On a stock Banshee I don't think that there will be a performance difference between the G and the S.

Thanks Josh, I wasn't expecting any real performance gain, just hoping for quicker starting. Still starts in 5 kicks when sitting for two weeks, even with the old plugs. Guess I'll just sick up some B(R)8ES...

Thanks again
