27" claws on 02 Kodiak?? will it work
#11
If you use stock rims, it will feel tall and narrow probably. Not as bad as you might expect because the 12" wide rears will stabilize it a bit more. If you go with an aftermarket rim like an ITP, then it won't bother you a bit, cause they have more offset than the stock setup.
I have the 660, and like all Yamaha's, it is a narrow quad in stock form. 27" Claws on ITP chrome and the thing is tall and wide, and probably as stable on sidehills as anything I've ridden. It all depends on the setup. As far as tires go, Claws are pretty hard to beat if you ride in several situations. If you are a mud hound that never leaves the swamp, then I would look at a tire that is stricty for mud like an outlaw or Vamp. Claws perform almost as good, and are better in all other situations than the other two.

Atomic~
Went with mud machines 25" Bi/Tri Claws on the Kodiak on ITP C-series rims. No noticable loss of power. Also, I might mention that these "25 inch" tires measure exactly 26" in height. She's a happy camper.
