The best way to measure 0-60 would be the gtech pro. I haved used it for my cars for years. I tried it once on the quad and couldn't get it mounted right. I'll try it again in the spring.

michgrizz660 where do you ride? I'd like to ride with you. I live about 10 minutes from you.

If I knew a grizz could jump that good I might have bought one.

I was thinking that ALL of these tests should be with stock equipment (that way, maybe the manufacturers would start using better stuff, so their numbers came out better. I do, however, think it is important to list what types of mod's can be done, and the expected outcome. For example, I wouldn't put any bigger than 27" on mine (power, etc), but on some you can go 28". That would be good information for a consumer to know.

Definately would like to have the standard tests run on different terrains as you mentioned.

Most of the list of specs from ATV's would have to come from "Annual Meets". Where our informal committee, could test these ATV's one at a time on the same track. Heck we're always looking for reasons to go riding anyway. We could all meet up at a certain place, construct the track, and start the testing. With results being seen and agreed upon by all, otherwise, I'm not sure we could trust all the results coming from individuals out there (plus diff track conditions). The only problem with this that I see, is that most of the people from these forums that I think I get to show up and use their ATV, do not have stock anything, anymore. Perhaps there would be an easy way to get back to stock (as close as possible, then note the diffs from factory).

It might not be the most accurate for the first couple of years. But once it gained some credibility, I would bet that we would start getting "test" ATV's from the manufacturers, maybe even some sponsor money, from aftermarket accessory companies. At the very least, I would think we could perform a collection of these tests, to the best of our collected abilities, and honestly put out some unbiased info for the consumers. We could expand as we go.

hey jeff,

i ride all through middle michigan, but the pics are from my friends back yard, 10 acres of all out trails he made. mainly i have ridden in gladwin, or all around there. i have a camper so my friends and i go up alot to aroung gladwin, mio, and that area. I ALWAYS want more people to ride with, couse theres never enough! i live at 11 mile and mound area, where you at? Me and my other 30somethingers go out and have fun whenever we can. If we dont make it up north, and only have a day, then we hit the mounds, couse something is better than nothing! have you ever been there? if so, have you ever seen the thanksgiving truck run? well, i would love to have someone else to ride with, couse there is only 1 or 2 of us on most runs.

All very good ideas! I suppose it might be hard to find a "middle of the country" type place for people to meet, and I also suspect those who would could or would do have mods on their quads. Speaking for myself, I sold my stock rims & tires, so with after market rims/tires that disqualifies me from any results right there.

It would be cool to get a club like this put together and perhaps gain a voice to the manufactures.

i would really like to be a part of such a test! i also beleave all quads entered should be stock as stock can be!

2 people with the same quads so the times can be devited from both and then applied.

having one man on a, lets say, grizzly, weighing 220, and another man weighing 165 would surly make for differant times, so having weight differances would be great to show how the quad reacts under differant terrain and differant weights. all quads to start with full tanks of gas, and run till there out, to see real world driving dinstances under the same terrain.

there should be all differant ages so we can see how differant ages are on there quads after, say, 40 miles of hard riding and doing all the tests. another way to check comfort on them too!

just my 2 cents, still thinking this is an ausome idea!!!

Did you ever get the Gtech to work on the quad?
