hey my expierence with a company not fixing my brand new z400 i stoped paying the bill. I took it to the shop and they were like your ready for your 10hr tune up and i said it doesnt have 10hr it has 4 hours on it. I told them its facked up. I was riding down my dirt road at my farm and the chain broke because at assembly they forgot to but the lock completly on the chain and the chain wipped the case and broke it. it got repoed 1 year after i stopped paying the bill. i rode it for free with j/b weld on the huge gapeing hole in the motor.I've got a raptor now

What is this world coming too? If somebody was seriously injured then I would agree, but suing a company for minor problems is not the way to go. Your last resort should be suing, you should try and talk to your dealer about your problems and ask what they suggest you do. Sueing the company for your transmission problems will only make matters worse in the ATV industry. Like I said, if the problems result in major injury that is another matter.

i dont think yall should i mean they fixed the problem didnt they and i mean thats part the reason how a sport dies off from being sued i mean i had a 2001 raptor for 2 years i loved it and then i blew the motor at a friends house racing his 440ex on his MX track but that was the only problem i ever had with it and i sold it after i fixed it and i never had a tranny problem and i rode the crap outta it and i never had a problem with it but did yall ever think it could be alittle bit of the rider

OT slightly.
Other than structural integrity, what else is different between the '01 and the '02 Raptor transmissions? Are the gear ratios changed (lower 1st and second gears perhaps)? Are all the trany parts between the model years interchangeable? In other words, can the four gears comprising 1st and 2nd of a 2001 Raptor be swapped out for the updated ones?
Thanks.

Boy, Someone was really bored to find this old thread...lol
First of all, Engine rebuilds in general are not covered by YES regardless of "abuse".
An engine wears..just like brake pads, and are not generally covered for the same reasons.....especially on a sport model.
As for swapping trannies between an '01 and '02, there are countless threads on this topic including a part list of what is needed.
The list is also on several aftermarket shop websites.

Tranny failures arent limited to 01's. I have an 02 Raptor and ride infrequently and 2nd gear split in two. To follow up on your thoughts, I know how to ride and maintain the quad perfectly. Thankfully, no one was behind me cause I came to a screeching hault. $1300 later, back on the trail. While your at it, throw that crappy one way in the mix, many of us have had to replace that piece of junk. Yamaha is not proactive in addressing any problems.
