Raptor lawsuit

To all the guys with Raptor transmission problems:
What do you think about bringing a class action lawsuit against Yamaha? It seems to me that there is enough evidence to bring a negligence suit or something of that nature against them. I'm not a lawyer or anything like that but I know that there has been many suits filed against companies that have put out defective products. What do you think?

everyone should do it.
my fiance now my wife had her car wrongfully repode (sp) when two banks murged before... out of the blue a lawyer contacted us because a lady was doing a class act law suit. so we sent in her name and about a year later as of 1 week ago my wife called the lawyer and it seems the lady won. so everyone that signed up with the lawyer and the lady gets the repo off there credit reports and we may even get some money back. its seems you guys have a case but one has to sue and the rest add there names in.

Even though I own a 2001 Raptor, I think that sueing is a bad idea. It isn't as though Yamaha intentially set out to have problems with the tranny (IF in fact there is a major design flaw). Besides, for 2002, the Raptor has a new tranny. The most anyone could hope for is a recall to replace the 2001 trannies. But that isn't going to happen anytime soon.
The Yamaha product is not defective. It might not be as durable in its first year form, but that is not a case of "negligence". A lawsuit won't help the sport any. If anything, just sell your 2001 Raptor and quit buying Yamaha. Don't be a schmo.

Another frivolous lawsuit against the manufactures it sounds like to me.
As far as a clas action lawsuit not affecting the production of sportquads is a joke. Don't you guys remember the class action lawsuit brought against all the manufacturers in the '80s??? Wow!! We had alot of sport machines for those following 10 years didnt we??
While the bike hasn't been out long, if the transmission failed while under warranty, it was fixed. Yamaha has even fixed some that weren't under warranty.
The question is...how long does Yamaha need to go replacing transmissions on machines that are out of warranty??? They don't. If you aren't happy with Yamaha, don't buy a Yamaha. Hell, if everyone started sueing when something broke right after warranty and demanded that it be fixed, Polaris would have gone bankrupt years ago regarding it's crankshaft breakage problem.
If you feel like sueing is the only way to make you happy, then that's what you should do. Your consumer rights give you that right. But don't rally up a legion of hell-raisers to ruin the sport for everyone else. I would hate to see all the topics on the board next year that read.."When will Yamaha bring back the Raptor?"

there is a safety issue here that should be addressed.one person on this forum had his trans break, lock up and send him over the bars, resulting in broken ribs.im no polaris fan but they do recalls all the time, recalls are safety oriented, and this should be a saftey concern.there should be a goverment saftey comision or something someone can call and report such things.only problem is itll probably take more than one guy breaking ribs to get anything done.i do think that the guy that boke his ribs could very easyly print off all the problems with tranys off this forum and sue the hell out of yamaha, that would probably get the ball rolling, trouble is theyd more than likely just buy him off before it ever got to court.
