I recently took 30 thousands off of a friends 98 Shee, I had about 10 thousands more to go before I got into the domes. I have been told that I can take off as much as 80 thousands without clearance problems. Anyone want to conferm this? I dont want to scrap a friends perfectly good head.
thanks guys

What fuel are you going to use? Are the cylinders ported? What type application? .030 on stock cylinders, on pump gas would be about as far as I would want to go......

Its not the fuel or detonation that concerns me, I have access to VP Blue,so the fuel is not a problem. I am worried about piston to head clearance. I have took 30 thousands off a number of Banshees, and unless they are in extremely high alitutdes, 93 octane is usually sufficent, anyhow, thanks for the reply

any other thoughts?

Your minimum safe squish clearance pretty much regardless of octane in that bore size would be .030-.032" Most shoot for a target of .035"

However with a stock squish its a tad on the wide side for that tight of a squish clearance...watch the RPM...

Also, if you go too far with the lathe, the head should be "re-chambered". .030 is a good, conservative # too shoot for. Call around.....some engine builders don't like much more than that because you start too loose some high RPM revs with additional compression.
