Hey everyone, I seem to have taken an interest in drag racing lately. I was just wondering what mods it would take for a stock Banshee to hit in the 100's quarter mile. I know the A&S Turbo Banshee hits like.. 135, but I dont really want anything that expensive/fragile. I have seen a website on a posted Banshee hitting 95 on a 300ft drag. Do you think if the length of the strip was longer, it would top 100? That thing would rip anyones arms off! 95mph from goaline to goaline on a football field. Awesome. Just give me some numbers, and any help is greatly appreciated.

To make it a little more clear, there are alot of street races around here now(trucks). I'd like to blow a couple minds with my Shee. So, how bout it? What would it take for my Banshee to spank a built 350 in the 1/8th and 1/4. Thanks

Thanks Gary, I'd like to try and stay away from nitrous and turbo if at all possibly, but NO2 is definately a possibility.

Any others?

NO2 is Nitrous. Without nitrous and a turbo you are going to need some serious displacement to get those speeds. It would be very difficult if not impossible without a different engine. Good luck with your project though.

I know NO2 is nitrous. I was saying that I'd like to stay away from it if possible, but that I would consider it. A&S have experimented with turbos, leading only to engine failure.

lonestar- you should be able to beat a 350 built with a stock banshee in the 1/8 now. A few months back 2 raptors and a stock 'shee went to cedar creek race way. My raptor was running 9 sec. flat 1/8's and camero's and trucks were not winning. I smoked them out of the hole, but they were closing fast at the end. Bansheeboy2k1 just put toomeys t5 and a trinity stage 4 on his and that is one fast beast now. I was smoking him bad with my jet kit, proflow and slip-on. Not anymore.

I like to race my little nova on the weekends, its not too built 12.50's 1/4.. but it takes one heelllasshheess banshee to run with it, also the shees big$$$$ i saw a drag shee in sand sports it was semi-moded only ran like 8's in the 8th(kinda slow compared to almost any respectable street car), the cheapest way wou;d be to change out the motor(no replacement for displacement),, but hey why not start out with a 500 ziila and add a little juice, im sure that would make your arms sore,,,but for crazy nutty speed build a 1000hp sand rail its all about the $$$$ one thing for sure , you feeelll like your going a hell of alot faster on a quad,, i saw a single seat modified buggy(small like a pilot) that had a modified zx1100 with nos, on the dyno it put out 160hp on motor and had a modest50 shot, i moved and never saw it run, guy lives in ponca city ok, 100mi e of little sahara i imagine that thing would scare even nutty people who drive500cc 2 strokes well sorry for getting off the shees but my stock shee was onle beaten by 2-3 lenghths at liitle sahara by semi-moded ones' i will not waste any of my $ to fix it up with aftermarket stuff, but hey thats me,,if i could fit a chevy 502ci in a shee frame i would even add a 200hp shot and throttle it all the way to heaven,,, sharkfin

Hmm, I dunno what 1/8 and 1/4 times my 'shee would pull, But I can hit 80mph with little motor mods (on pavement).. I would roughly guess it at somewhere between 8 and 10 seconds to get to that speed too. It shouldnt take to much to toss that number up into the 100's, its getting the reliability out of it that is difficult. As for the comment about the banshees draggin in the sand, There is no comparison between sand drags and asphault, Sand is a MAJOR dragging force on the engine. It requires alot more power to haul azz in the sand than it does on pavement. Just my .02 though..

I don't know 12.5 with a 3200lb car with a 350 has to be pretty built. Over 400hp I would say. I also can't imagine that you would run much lower than 8's in the 1/8 mile either. Maybe high 7's. Most street cars don't run 8's or even 12's, regardless of what the owner says. I'm not saying they arn't out there, but most "street" cars don't run that quick.

I can see a modded Banshee running with a "built" 350 in the 1/8th with a heavy car running street tires, but what I would call a built 350, with slicks, in the 1/4, no way.

JMHO!!
