is it hard. Silverbear told me that when he bought his kodiak in CA he had to assemble it himself. i am not the most mechanicaly inclined and don't have any special tool besides sockets and wrenches. Are there a whole crap load of pieces? i don't want to screw something up, i might just pay my local dealer to do it for me. I had trouble just assembling a mountain bike, let alone a $7,000 quad.

No special tools required. Just your basic socket set and wrench set.

While alot of dealers don't tell customers this, a machine assembled by the customer has NO warranty!! Yamaha has the P.D.I. sheets [Pre-Delivery-Inspection] registered on machines assembled by dealers,..so unless your dealer forged one and sent it to Yamaha, your machine will have no warranty.

By the way, what does your dealer charge for his set-up fee?? Most average from free to $75.00.
