Can anyone offer some information to a prospective first time dune rider? We, five of us, will be coming from Tennessee, so CA is definately OUT of the question! I love the woods racing/riding that we have here, but those dunes look better each time I open a magazine. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have heard several great things about OK/TX, but I want to hear from someone who knows where the riding is best. Also, how will my set-up run with the usual crowd? Is Memorial Day weekend a good time to visit???
Thanks.

I hear that their are some nice dunes in texas, I think they are called the kermit dunes, and then I also hear that Little sahara oklahoma is good.

I have never been to these dunes, they are too far for me.

I have been to glamis and the little buttercup part of the imperial sand dunes in california. I have also been to little sahara utah a couple of times now.

I plan this summer to go to st. anthonys dunes in idaho some time and probably won't be able to do dumont until next winter some time.

I am sure some of the people from texas or ok can help you out. There is nothing that compares to riding the dunes. It is my favorite riding by far.

Good luck and if you ever have the opportunity, I suggest a tour of the western dunes, start in cali and then up to dumont and little sahara utah and then st. anthonys in idaho and finish up with the oregon dunes. That would be a great summer vacation.

You should definately try Little Sahara OK, I live an hour and a half away and visit their regularly. On big weekends(Rattle Snake Hunt(Apr 6th), memorial, labor, roostfest)their will be thousands of people from all over the US. Not to mention some REALLY FAST BIKES. They have very good facilities for camping and part store's in camp along with mechanics, also a convenient store in camp. You will not be disapointed!

P.S. your set up would be very competitve with level one bikes(stock bikes with bolt-on mods)and would have no problem getting around the dunes. But their are atleast 3 to 4 more levels of machines out their.

Yea Little Sahara State Park ik OK is A blast. I live about 5hrs away & go for day trips on A regular basis. There is every thing from easy trails to fairly tuff areas though nothing like Glamis. Most weekends there is a lot of people but the big weekends are wild. While you are there try the sand drags at Atoka OK. 2nd Sat. of each month March thru November thier is usually 75-100 quads in 4 classes from stock 4x4s to custom built drag quads & is run on indexes. So even if you have never raced before if your consistant & cut a good light you can still win. Memorial Day weekend is the ASDA Heartland Nationals W/ Quads, Buggies & Dragsters from all over the country. Go to sanddrags.com for pics of last years race. I got 3rd (pro 3 quad) last year on my 250R & won $350 the winner got $1500.If you come look me up I'll be there. I'm not shure of the address but if you search Little sahara or Waynoka OK. you can find thier web site.
