You don't need to take the petcock out of the tank unless you don't have good fuel flow from the end of the gas line leading to the carb. If you turn the petcock to on with the hose disconnected from the carb and you have good fuel flow leave it be and move on to something else.

First of all would like to thank all for your input.I have checked:spark plug, fuel, fuel shut-off,fuse,disconnected brake plugs on clutch assembly, removed carb, cleaned carb bowl, checked float, checked air filter and still it idles perfectly, but as soon as I open the throttle it dies.I cant think of anything else, so I'm waving the white flag. She going to shop. For sixty dollars an hour I'll let them figure it out. Thanks again all.

A common problem with the Warrior and older(95) Wolverine was the accelerator pump sticking, the spring on them is way too weak, it will get stuck down, so when you hit the gas, the slide opens up, big gulp of air,no shot of gas to balance it out, bogs out. Pull the carb bowl, get the spring from a click type ink pen,it is the same size as the accel pump spring, but lots stiffer. After putting it back together, take the plastic side cover off and make sure the plunger is all the way up, hit the throttle a couple of times to verify it snaps back up. This may be all you need to fix it, I have no idea why Yamaha put such a weak spring in there,it barely holds the pumper up on its own,let alone push it back when it is a little sticky. Hope this helps.

Parking brake assembly. Some how there is a rev limiter that if parking brake is not in proper position it will not allow to engine to operate correctly. It cost me $230 dollars to repair with a small two cent zip tie holding the parking brake completely back. I bet that is your problem. It is very common. I disconnected the wires at the clutch assembly and it still did not work. You may want to follow the two wires and disconnect at first connection. Play with the parking brake at the clutch assembly. Good luck......
