grizz 600 locker
#1
Has anybody put a locker in there 600 grizz? I did a search on this topic and I didn't have much luck.
I did find www.dirtyhowie.com and he has lockers for the grizz for a real good price.
I want to know if this will make a significant difference in the steering on smooth surfaces.
I heard highlifter and another company combined to make a locker that makes the steering easier but I don't think it is available for the 600 grizzly.
Any help will be much appriciated.

I have not installed one yet but i have talked to guys who have, and they tell me it is really hard to steer. Highlifter does have the detroit gearless locker which i've heard nothing but good things about. It is not out yet for grizzlies. But they tell me it will be out soon, so I'm gonna wait until it comes out for the Griz.

I have to say that this was one of the dumbest sentences I've seen. What does power have to do with traction???
As for the locker, I don't know if they had some kind of problem with the lockers on the Grizzly because I know they quit making them. I will say that the yamaha 4wd system is practically the worst you can get. Probabaly in a tie with the non-locking kawasaki diffs. I know that if my 660 is in regular 4wd mode, its not near as good as my old Arctic Cat was. Locked is a different story though.

NorthernEdge,
I had a '98 Grizzly 600, and installed a locker in it. The steering was noticeably harder, but I'm relatively small-framed, and didn't have trouble steering the bike. The upside was that all 4 wheels would pull. I noticed the harder steering more at low speeds, but it was harder to steer at high speeds as well. It was in my bike when I traded it in. Wasn't that bad of a job to install either. Hope this helps.
