Question for you guys and gals. I was riding at some sand pits a couple weeks ago on my slightly modified raptor. Some guy with an authentic looking Duncan Racing TRX250R says that he wants to race his DR PC 2000 motor against me. His quad sounds pretty sweet, has the DR engine, along with a 5 gallon gas tank, and all the extra goodies. The problem is that I smoked his a$$ by 3 lengths on a 300ft track. He was in shock and so was I. we lined up again with the same result. It is my understanding, according to ATVSport, that his setup will easily outrun a raptor, DS650, etc. He raced twice, lost twice, and left pretty hot. Should he have won the races against my raptor? How fast should a quad with that setup run?

2001 Blk/Wht Raptor, WB E-series Silencer, Pro Design, TMM Race Cam, 11:1 Hi-comp Piston, Port/Polish, Eliminator Axle, TMM +2/+1 A-arms, AC Nerf Bars, 12 Tooth, Trailtech, Red Saranwrap Headlights

And also how much horsepower will i have about with the other mods i have listed in my signature thanx

Its pretty easy to run down a 250R motor. They say to rebuild after 20 hours of operation for top horsepower racing use. maybe he needed a rebuild, or something was wrong.

At the flat track where we race a Raptor won the overall season. In the last event - sportsman open class - this Raptor beat a brand new 330r done by Hammer Racing (engine)and East Coast (chassis help)for Sue Parker. Sue had had her troubles with this motor for about a month before this(went through 5 or 6 pistons - I believe the pistons were faulty) but on this day her 330 smoked everything out there, including several other 330's, banshees, LT 500r's LT 250r's and several lesser 2??r's. All except this particular Raptor.

I know this Raptor had a HC piston, a cam, valves, porting , pipe, cdi, and I believe new carbs as well and really good suspension. Some of the 330r's out there were beaten by my son with his old 250X/350X conversion. Just because it is an "r" it does not mean it's the fastest. The best ones are truly fast, but a strong Banshee smoked everyone on a given day, and a Walsh 426/440 buried the pack on another day. Second overall for the season was a 490 ex who lost a lot of points due to a blown motor 2/3's of the way through the season.

What's all this mean? Hmmm............. on any given any well built well tuned sport bike with a good rider has a chance. like it should be.

way to go nuke!!! i'm gonna get me some 250r a$$ again this year. if they have the bells to show. pay no attention to any excuses. a win's a win. since "he" was wanting to race he must have felt it was running right. also his surprise tells it all. congrats.
