Wheel Spacers ?
#1
I am new to 4-wheelers (active dirtbiker) so I'm going to ask a lot of stupid questions.
How effective are rear wheel spacers? I have a Raptor on which I have fitted 2" wheel spacers . My objective is to improve the stability on off-camber paths and dirt road corners. What are the pros and cons of this modification?
Do they work?
Are the rear axles strong enough to cope with the aditional stresses? (I do not intend racing MX or doing big jumps with the bike)
Should I be widening the front track at the same time?
Any input would be appreciated.

Wheel spacers work fine for your application. The only thing i would be concerned with is spacers on the rear with the stock axle. if you have a 01 raptor then i would'nt count on it handling the extra force. They say the 02 Raptors axle is stronger...but, i can't confirm that.
I would use them...with the expectation that the rear axle may bend. if it does, no surprise. order the after market. if your not jumping. The odds are in your favor.
my friend rides, jumps with spacers in the front for 1 year on his Raptor. No problems.

Welcome to 4-wheel'in your on the right track! Spacers are good , and you have mentioned no MX or Hang-time jumps so you should be fine!
Being an old dirt biker from a by-gone day 70'to mid 80's the transition takes a bit to 4-wheelers.
I found that alot of body english and feedback from the seat of your pants worked for me........ But keep referring back to this forum, you'll always get good constuctive input from fellow riders.
Former Rides:
Husky 250
Maico 500
Kaw 450
Can-am 250
Enjoy....... from the cold Canuk!!

You can reverse your front rims to give an added four inches up front over all. You'll have to invert the existing valve stems(so they don't hit the brake caliper) and drill you some new holes for the new one's. This will cost you about 2$. Good luck.
