Stock for stock they are pretty evenly matched. All that is required for a Raptor to dust a DS is airbox and jetting mods. Open up the airbox and jet it up.

From what I heard they are pretty even in a race. Put a pipe and jet kit on the raptor and it should pull out in front of the DS

The stock raptor is ridiculously choked for air and gas. the powerband makes it difficult to drag race as it is stock. too little low end and an abrupt midrange. Jetting, slip on and K&N air filter.

Im not trying to start a flame in the yamaha forum. But in the higher gears my DS always pulls raptors. I have a stock 2000 DS my good friend josh (Bad660) has a 2002 raptor stock and this other guy I know has a 2001 Raptor stock. And from a dead stop on an Asphalt road the DS will always end up ahead. But when we race in a field The Raptor will get me cause The stock tires on a DS would would be better suited in starting camp fires than a performance tire for traction. Now im told just a slip on pipe and jets really kicks those Raptors in the butt.

a stock ds650 will beat a piped raptor easily. the piped raptor will beat a ds650 off the line but then the ds650 catches up.

14mins,

What I wrote was the honest truth. If you don't belive any of what i wrote ask (Bad660) in the yamaha forum if what i wrote is true. He saw me race the the 2001 Raptor and he owns the 2002 Raptor. I'll tell ya what 2002 Raptors are faster then 2001 Raptors and I dont know why? Even with different people driving the 2002 beats the 2001. The biggest problem with a DS is its stock tires. I get beat in a short field by Josh's (Bad660)'s Raptor every single time. Have any of you Raptor guies ever raced a DS on Asphalt? I'll tell you one thing when I race in a field and every other Ds owner will agree That These Ds's will not get good soild traction till mid way through 3rd gear. Some times 4th depending on the field. 1st and 2nd gears are just me listing to my rev limiter while I am sitting far back on the seat, and throwin roost up.
