Blaster or 300ex?

I don't own a Blaster myself, but one of my friends does. He says its a good machine if you are under 5'6", but anything over that you are very scruntched up. As far as hauling goes there really isn't anywhere to put the materials and it doesn't have enough power to make it up some larger hills.
The reason he bout the Blaster was because he wanted to fly on the trails and zip around turns...that's exactly what it does! The breaks don't work to well, but if you are any good you don't use them to often anyway.
I figure if you are going to do any work go with the 300ex, but if you only want to play go with the Blaster.

I am not sure what is wrong with the blaster your freind has but I am 5'10 and weigh 180lbs and there is no hill that the blaster won't climb due to lack of power. You are correct that the breaks do leave something to be desired but again they will stop you just fine if you keep new break pads on them and keep them adjusted properly. Just my two cents worth

either one will make you happy, the blaster has a snappier powerband and i think is faster. the 300ex you wont repair as often, reverse on the ex, none on the blaster. electric start on the ex, not on the blaster. blaster is smaller, but better bang for the buck. iv ridden both machines and i think the 300ex had great controls and feel. the blaster was cramped im 5'5 even and for the blaster its VERY easy to kick over. the 300ex, i would go for if i wanted to trail ride. if you want a snappy powerband get the blaster. hands down the ex has better suspention and brakes! speed/powerband blaster
everything else 300ex.
any quad is fun, funn"er" quad is (my opinion) 300ex.

well i have a blaster and i am 15 weighing about 125 and i out run 300ex on staight stretches and on trails. on hills the 300ex is no comparison to the blaster on the hills. i can climb any hill i have tried. so if i were you i would definatly get the blaster with out any second thoughts.

you should look into a mojave, its in between a 300ex and a blaster...i just bought a 2001 and just broke it in....i love it its allot of fun in the woods, tight trails esspetially, the other day i actually just raced my buddy with a 98 blaster...both our machines at this point are stock and i had no trouble pulling away from him....against a 300ex that would definitly be a different story, but with a couple mods here and there its not out of the question! they are all good machines, good luck with your decision
p.s. the mojo is a Fun trail quad and is a real fun wheelie bike too

The choice between a blaster and a 300EX, hmm. Well, for reliability, I'd be going with the Honda. Say these two machines were exactly alike as far as condition. On the 300EX, no rebuilds necessary, you got reverse, and you got a Honda, top of the line off the shelf bike. The blaster is a fun bike too, you'll have to mix gas and do the top end work on it when necessary, which is about every 100 hours, give or take a bit. The 300EX is an electric start, blaster kick, 300ex has an awesome suspension for its class, the blaster is so so. The blaster has a more maintanence chain adjustment, the 300ex is cut and dry. I believe the blaster has grease fittings, so chance of blowing out seals can be common. The 300EX has no grease fittings whatsoever, and never really see a problem with them. Braking is a LOT better on the 300ex. As far as speeds, with a few hop ups, the blaster will most likely outrun the 300ex, but stock they are pretty close.
