Out of everyone here who has ridden a shee and a 250R, is anyone really impressed by the TRX compared to the shee? I wasnt sure what I wanted till last weekend when I rode 1 of each that belonged to guys we ride with, I was on banshee territory (dunes) but still, I didnt see anything special about the Honda, and to quote the Honda owner, "The shee is like a cadillac compared to the old 250R". What do you guys think?

-you would get more out of a 250R when sold

-twin cylinders means two pistons means twice the $ for repairs

-mods=everything times 2

-250r handles very nicly

-banshees have no low end

Iv ridden both and I liked the Banshees power and the 250r's EVERYTHING ELSE

Sure, its twice the $ for mods, but I think of it as twice the potential.
And check the traders man, you cant sell a 250R for very much, Invest 10k into each bike, and you could sell the banshee for a couple g's more.

you might have just ridden an R that wasnt set up nice or as well as the shee. an R can be modded to match and exceed any bikes capabilitys. thats why all of the top race bikes are R's. (with some exception)

I owned and raced a banshee (MX) for 6 years that had about 12k invested in it. I decided to try something diffrent so i parted it out because i couldnt get anybody to give me the 5k that i was asking for it. So i bought a 250r that was in a box in the corner of some guys garage. I Put it all together and started ordering all the go fast parts for it. I now have about 5k into the 250r that will flat smoke around a mx track and genaral play riding. Most everything i buy for it is half the cost of a banshee and built twice as well. I wouldnt trade my 86 250r for any new quad out there (maybe C-DALE).

The R I rode was pretty nice, it was as fast as the banshee but not as fun. The shee only had pipes and filters, I guess I liked it because its just so much fun to ride. The top end rush is like no other atv around. I know the 250R is great on the mx track, but i would only get one if I had the money to restore it so it didnt look more than 5 years old. And I dont race (yet) but I do see why a racer would take the Honda over the Yamaha. Speaking of that, how many of you guys race? And what do you race?

You said it, the R's may be the undisputed king of racing (fast & plush) but the ol' banshee is like riding a bull you can tool around in first/second all day and have a blast whereas the R your cruzin around in 5th-6th to get that shee bucking bull feel. You ask me which is the best? Both, you cant beat the R for everything it is and you cant beat the banshee for the fun factor.

If i was going to be riding mx or woods i would go with something like the 250r. it has power but its to predictable for me. the banshee is like a light switch and i love just holding it wide and shifting through every gear and going 70+mph and the tires are still burning out and throwing roost. the motor screams way more than a 250. the 250r is too much like the power spread of a blaster.

I have a 1986 trx 250r with a bills pie and silencer ported reeds reed spacer milled head and .40 wesico piston and my friends have banshee's and i smoke them. The one is a 01 with fmf pipes boost bottle and reeds and k&n's the other is all stock except for a boost bootle and k&n the other has t-5's cool head k&n's reeds boost bottle. I smoke them all. I just got back from the dunes today and i wasted them up the hill every time. (sand mountain utah). I also have works shocks and they are great. The 250r wheelie's better better handler and can beat lots of banshee's but you can make banshee's very very fast you can make 250r's very very fast but if you are looking for all out power when they are all modded to the max i think that the banshee is faster. There is a psi 425 kit at the mountain sometimes and i have yet to see a banshee beat it. But i'm not down there on like easter. But it is you choice i like my 250r and will not trade it for anything.

86trx250rhonda,
You must have the best running 86 250r EVER!!! That, or your buddies dont know how to ride. You say you are smoking 350 cc's piped banshees with your 250 cc's piped Honda. Yea, right. Id give you $20 if you were to beat any piped banshees with a competent rider, not your buddies. Remindes me of this guy at camp once.. "OH yea, I got me a 330 R kit, works this, lonestar that, im going kill everybody this weekend at the dunes" Im like ok, well lets go... After about 5 races up Oldsmobile, getting beat, he quit racing any banshees and started bottom feeding on stock bore 250R and 400ex's. At any rate, thanks for the laugh this morning to get me woke up...

RoostKing...
