I am about to push my Raptor off a cliff. I am runnin a Yoshi with Denton aluminum box and a Dynojet kit with Dynojet 175/180 mains. I let it idle for 5 minutes or so and the pipes glow red. Am I still too lean? I read that sometimes the pipes glow and that Raptors don't idle well. I just can't seem to except that, is it really normal? I am runnin stock pilots and the screws are 2 3/4 and 3 turns out. How far out can they be turned? Should I try bigger mains still? Is it my screws? At this point I do not want to ride it if it is that lean so reading the plug isn't really helping I don't think.

I know tunning is difficult and I am still a newbie but there must be someone else that is running with this type of airbox and pipe.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Keep turning the mixture screws out 1/4 turn at a time. If you reach 4 complete turns out and it still runs lean (pipes glowing red) go up a size or 2 on the pilot jets and start over. Once you get the lean condition solved your Idle will become more stable, then adjust to the high side of the RPM range which I believe is 1550 RPM's. Your lean condition will only be corrected (at Idle) by adjusting the mixture screw.

First of all you are entirely too Rich on your mains. I would say that I am pushing rich at 160/165 Dynojet with the 686. You should be perfect at 148/150 on the mains, aluminum airbox or not. wshrdskin has it right on the airscrew. I have heard if you have to go past 3 turns out you should go up one size, pilots go 22.5(Stock), 25, 27.5, etc.

THE NUMBERS MEAN ON THE JETS REAL GOOD IMFO .
MY CLEAR UP WHE DEAL WHEN FOLKS STATE WHAT JET SIZES THEY ARE USING
A 160 MIKUNI IS ABOUT ATHE SAME SIZE AS A 170.7 DYNOJET OR EQUAL TOO

Back the mixture screws out a bit...if this does'nt clear the glowing problem, install some 27.5 pilots.

So how would one know if they had a dyno jet or a regular jet if they had put all of they're jets in one container? Is there a special mark on them of some kind?

Thanks for the jet info, I'll see if I can seperate the jets now that I know there is a difference between the two. That should help with all the jetting trouble I have had in the past.

FORGET TO YET YOU KNOW
THE CT TITANIUM NEEDLES LET MORE FUEL THOUGH THE JETS THAN STOCK
NEEDLES CT NEEDLED ARE SMALLER IN DIA. ( ON A TAPER OF COURSE)
SO I CAN USE A SMALLER JET SIZE IF USING A STOCK NEEDLE
MAY HAVE TO GO TO LARGER SIZE JET OR MOVE THE POS. OF THE
NEEDLE CLIP TO NUMBER 4 OR LOWER TO LET MORE FUEL IN
GO NOT TO BE ON THE LEAN SIDE
