Well I bought my raptor in PA , no sales tax until I register it. I want to register it but don't want to pay the $504 in sales tax so I thought I would give it to my wife as a gift and have her register it in her name ?! Has anybody from NY done this or anything else to avoud the killer sales tax we're blessed with in NY.

 

I believe that they have to be registered in the same name that appears on the title. If a divorce is not in the immediate future, sell it to her for $100 dollars (just to have an amount on the title) register it in her name, then have her sell it back to you after a month or two.

You might get hassled in some national forests if your registration gets checked, and it is not registered in your name.
