You brought up some good points,also most of the pipe that &quot;claim&quot; a 5hp(for example)increase isn't telling you that the 5hp increase came in at a certain RPM,and may have actually been less than the stocker at another part of the powerband.Even so,I do agree that the aftermarket pipes save weight and help to rev through the powerband quicker.Like you stated earlier,it depends on the type of riding you do.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

<< i don't think it would be good to have the yz450f motor replace the 660 either. the only good thing that i can think of is the quad weighing less and maybe a little more power. but its still not legal to race in the 250 class so why would you even want to change it? also the 660 has waaaaay more potential than the 450. also what about one of the raptors neatest features? the reverse? what would happen to it? if they kept i would think they'd have to remove a forward gear from the 450 engine. isn't that what happened in the case of the bike engine they took the 660 from? i say since neither of them would be legal to race the 250 class just keep the big bore. the 660 is the charm of the raptor. >>


If yamaha and honda were to stick their 450s into quads there would be a new class of racing.This would set a new standard.

Yamaha has never built a pro class elligble machine. Why would they start now?

If Honda built a 450 tommorow and the cc limit was increased to 450cc. Yamaha would just go back to the drawing board and redesign the engine so that it doesn't have to compete in the same class.

Sounds absurd? Hardly. Look back on the history of the sport.
