Someone on this forum said that Yamaha is going to be releasing a new "MX Raptor" that will use the motor that Yamaha is replacing the 426 with. Has anyone else heard any info on this?

That was me, thats just something I've heard from a couple dealers here local. (Who knows how much truth theres to it.) I think it would totaly be kicka$$ though. Especially if they could get it to weigh under 350lbs.

Oh ok, that would still be sweet. There was another person who said it also, he says he has a buddy who has a buddy who works for Yamaha who said they were going to completely replace the Raptor with this one, or was that you also? Either way it's probably not likely, if you ask me Yamaha has too much pride for the Raptor to replace it. Not that it's a bad machine, but dang they praise it alot!

I would be severely bummed if the they replaced the 660 raptor with a 450 that doesnt have the power potential. That would leave the Bombardier unchallenged in the 4 stroke power category.

Uh... How do you figure that charleyhorse?

Better read up on that 426 motor before you start saying it won't give the DS a run for its money.

They won't replace the 660, it's Yamaha's pride and joy of quads. Just think though charleyhorse, the 426 is already stronger of a motor than the CRF450. If they really are bumping the 426 up to a 450, it is going to have even stronger power. I do feel for you though, if I got beat by a smaller bore quad, I'd be pissed too

Again Raptor owners, I'm not doggin on the Raptor.

i don't think it would be good to have the yz450f motor replace the 660 either. the only good thing that i can think of is the quad weighing less and maybe a little more power. but its still not legal to race in the 250 class so why would you even want to change it? also the 660 has waaaaay more potential than the 450. also what about one of the raptors neatest features? the reverse? what would happen to it? if they kept i would think they'd have to remove a forward gear from the 450 engine. isn't that what happened in the case of the bike engine they took the 660 from? i say since neither of them would be legal to race the 250 class just keep the big bore. the 660 is the charm of the raptor.

If yamaha or honda cameout with a 450cc quad they would change the rule to allow it to race in the 250 pro class. I say this becouse in a dirt wheels mag they said honda asked to have the rule change form 440 to 450. They said they would when the quad came out not before it did.
