CT pipe???
#1
I just have a few questions about the CT pipe for a Raptor. First how loud is this pipe? I have been looking for a quiet pipe, but it seems that the quiet pipes out there don't make the power that the louder pipes do. How does the CT compare to the Pro circuit and Yosh pipes? I hear that the CT has the biggest power gains, true? Are there anyother pipes i should look into that make good power gains and possibly semi-quiet??

according to a dirt wheels pipe shout out a few months ago :
the CT raptor pipe "kit" puts out 48.6 peak hp 103 db sound level
pro circuit t-4 42.9 peak hp with 102 db sound level
the yochimura Tec-Sa puts out 46.2 peak hp with 100 db

El Sancho, you are an example of why such a biased test done by dirtwheels is still effective in selling pipes. The CT pipe had airbox and bigtime jetting changes while other pipes did not. Therefore, they were NOT comparing apples to apples.
The truth of the matter is that with a stock motor, you might as well get a slip on, jetting and airbox changes and save some money. I got over 48.1 hp and 46.8 ft/lbs of torque with an e-series, dynojet kit and K&N. Cutting the airbox does increase performance, especially as the air filter gets some dirt in it from the ride.
I bet the larger diameter headpipe decreases the torque too.

I am looking for a full system with the head pipe, from what I have seen the head pipe on the Raptor is not a very good design. I had the Pro Circuit T-4 on my DRZ400E and it was a great pipe, but it was extremly loud and I had to get the Quiet Core instert for it. The ct pipe looks good because for the same price as most other pipes, it comes with a jet kit. Do any of the others?

Get the CT exhaust. Dont listen to people that tell you to just get the slip on. Look at the stock header on the Raptor. They are way to small for a 660. And for saying 48HP with a slipon and filter and box mods. LOL get real. 48 with the hole exhaust is hard to believe much more just a slip on. Thats a 13HP increase. Go wioth CT best exhaust out there. Yoshi is only 100db but doesnt perform as well as the CT.

charliehorse, you are a classic example of what makes chatboards so damn annoying.. excuse me for helping out an individual with his question. but you failed to realize i labeled the CT pipe as a "KIT". yeah i guess i could have gone into detail all the ifs and buts etc. about teh biased test but teh fact remains taht if he were to purchase a pipe from CT, they would have sold him the "kit" and teh results listed in teh magazine would be the results achieved on his bike

I wanna know how you got 48hp woith a slip on. Dont believe it
Also get a full exhaust. Why not spend allitle extra and gain more power. plus you are gonna Have to get the heaDERs when you do engine mods
