I have had my 2002 Raptor since september 2001. So i have had it for about 6months and with out any problems. Well except i snapped a chain. The gearing from the 01 is completely different. The 02 gearing is spot on. Its realy perfect. 1st is a little lower second is alot lower and 3rd is lower. 4th and 5th gear remain the same. The gear ratios are perfectly spaced. I run my Raptor pretty hard so the tranny prob is cured. I had my 01 for 5 months when its tranny went so the 02 is definently better. The only thing i would recommend is almost immediatly put a Sidewinder TI series chain on it. They are virtualy indestructable. They are rather spendy at $130 but if you do it right away it will save you from getting broke down some where or putting a hole in the case. Not that is a big difference but the 02 tires are different and they tend to slide better and dont roll as much as the 01 stock tires did. My brother bought an02 Raptor 2weeks after i bought mine and he hasnt had any problems at all. Hope this helps.
