I'm in the market for a quad for myself and possibly my wife.

Today my wife called a dealership in my area looking for a Big Bear 2002 4X4. Well the Salesperson told my wife that he had two 2001 Big Bear 4X4's that were just turned in that the government used. He said they had very low miles. He's selling them for 3300.00 a piece. So in the morning my wife and I are going to go there and check them out.

My question is what would the government use quads for? What should I look out for with these quads? Also, we figure we can talk him down to 6000 for both. It appears to be a great deal, but what concerns me is how can I verify they have low miles if there is no odometer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

maybe the park service used them. just look underneath at the skidplates, if they look pretty good, it normal means that have been taken care of and also just look at the plastic, just see how much all of this stuff is scratched up.

i think it would be a good deal if you got them both for 6000, but i don't really follow 4x4s.

Just thought that you should know.... In Iron Mountain, the yamaha dealer is selling her big bear for 3500 and its in excellent condition. as far as the price goes on the quads that you are looking at... i would say yes that they are good deals... i've been all around looking at different quads "mostly new" but also the used ones for my wife... THEY ARE HARD TO FIND! Expecially the bikes that are a good ride and reliable AND only a year old! Good luck with whatever you find, and welcome to the family!!

Hey Frogman you're a Yooper too eh? I'm from Escanaba! I currently live in Grayling because I work fulltime at Camp Grayling. Anyway, I'm in the UP all the time at our Camp off of US-41. Damn we should hook up sometime! You have ALOT better quad then me though. My Dad and my brother both have the Kodiak. That's what I was going to buy until I came across this deal.

Hope to chat with you more!
