need help on griz clutch problem
#1
hey guys,
was offroading saterday, when the mother of all swamp holes attached me, lol. i fought hard, but was swallowed in the middle. it never stalled, and lucky me, i have no water in my oil, but, i had to drain the belt housing, only to see sand and mud trinkle out. i pulled off the cover,( what a challange that is!) and saw my clutch packed solid with swamp mud!!! the inside is a mess! i could never have cleaned it on the trail, so i put it back together and swallowed my pride to be pulled back by my brothers grizzly.
how can i clean this?? will just a hose and water work? I cant even get the clutch off couse the bolt is so tight and i cant keep the thing from spinning?
has this happened to anyone else? i want to do it right, but am a little confused at how to go about it?
is this common to get this much sand and mud into the clutch housing?
thanks guys, i really need help on this one!

Oh Boy , been there and sorry to hear that I'm not the only SWAMP-BUGGY PILOT out here.
The same problem I had was fixed luckily with a brake cleaner spray can!
Unload the entire can of brake cleaner all over the clutch and releated parts, of coarse this is after it's been well watered first!
You also said the SAND word...... GEEEZS now the fun begins... the sand will chew the belt to shreads so a change out will save alot of grieve later, like within 50 miles of a cleaning,
Trust me on this one. When you have the belt removed please check for pits on the belt drives!!!
If there any it will continue to eat belts at an alarming rate!! A very fine EMERY CLOTH should clean-up any pits! It's better to do it right the first time or in my case x3, everybody was riding and I was wrenching............
Hope this fix will benifit your problem.

Further to my post a few moments ago...... I was over at www.highlifter.com and there is a few other riders in the same dilema as yourself.......Take a moment to have a quick look there at some other riders repairs, there's nothing like variety!
