You sure you need a 250 two stroke?? You sound like a beginner. Way to much bike for a beginner unless you are a bigger guy. The 250 will only run at it's best if you stay in it between each gear.
If you are beginning and must have the YZ250, I would suggest you put on a flywheel weight. An 11oz. would be a good starting point and they cost about $90.00. Doing this will make the bike much easier to ride and when you get accustomed to it's power, you can remove the weight and let loose.
Try finding a good forum dedicated to dirtbikes and post there. You will find many more dirtbike riders there who can give you alot more info than what you will find here.

um if you dont know how to shift gears you probably dont want a YZ250. Ive been riding quads and bikes all my life and im scared of a 250. I would start with a 80 of if your bigger then get a 125 and have a friend teach you. Its all about trial and error and learning fromy your mistakes.
